Heather is a hard person to sum up in a short biography, as she has experienced many life-changing events in the last two decades. However, she has never let life get the best of her, which is why she uses the phoenix as her logo. The phoenix symbolizes rebirth, new beginnings, strength, and determination.
Heather has been better known as Birdy for the last eight years, but before that she went by HBRedbird. She doesn’t use either of her last names at the moment except for legalities. Therefore, it is easier to go by nicknames.
Beginning the Blog
When she started blogging back in 2012, she wanted a place to vent frustrations and talk about her household. When she changed the name from “Chirps from the Birdcage” to “Birdcage Media”, she decided to turn her blog into a place to talk about business and working from home as a mother. She has been through a LOT in her lifetime, and would love to help others. She has grown from the beginning and hopes to pass that knowledge on to others.
A Little History
After giving birth to her third child in 2011, she began to struggle with post-partum depression that continued to worsen as her husband struggled to stay afloat in a job that took all his time. It was a full recipe for disaster that came to a head in August of 2012.
While they struggled to regroup, life dealt another blow when she lost her grandmother at the end of 2016. She separated from her husband at the beginning of 2017, and pushed to overcome the depression of losing everything dear to her.
She refused to give in and pushed to get things back in order by going back to work and becoming a manager at a fast food restaurant. In the background, she began to change Birdcage Media to Redbird Empire. She wanted to let others know it was possible to balance parenting, at-home work, and learn to live on their own again.
COVID led to the changes that she had been dreaming for and determined to achieve. She started her path in virtual assistance, and began offering her services in content creation, editing, web design, and other VA duties. In 2023, she returned to school online to obtain her certification in web development and is looking forward to finishing by the end of 2024. 2023 also brought opportunities in the gaming industry, as she now heads a gaming community of roughly 300 people and assists developers with game testing.
